Pedophilia – Foreign and Domestic
If you’re looking for a case study of the immorality of the left, consider reactions to the Roman Polanski story and recent revelations that Obama’s Safe Schools Czar (and gay indoctrinator) once abetted pedophilia.
Filmmaker Polanski was recently arrested in Switzerland as a fugitive from justice. The director fled the United States 30 years ago, when he was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl – not statutory rape, which is bad enough, but forcing himself on this child over her repeated protests.
Hollywood rushed to the defense of one of its own. Actress Debra Winger whined that the publicity was ruining her Zurich Film Festival, where Polanski was scheduled to appear – never mind the child Polanski allegedly ruined, perhaps for life. Foul-mouthed Whoopi Goldberg said the assault wasn’t “rape-rape,” whatever that means. Apparently, if a 13-year-old is raped by a celebrity, it isn’t really a sexual assault.
Polanski’s defenders found all kinds of extenuating circumstances. It happened 30 years ago. Polanski is such a talented director. Ultimately, because the left doesn’t believe in an objective morality, it can condone almost anything – if it fits its agenda.
Its defense of Polanski is another way for the left to thumb its nose at what it calls “middle-class morality” and wink at sexual anarchy.
Along the same lines, there’s Kevin Jennings, founder of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Educational Network (GLSEN), currently head of Obama’s Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools in the Department of Education. Appointing Jennings to this post is like putting a pyromaniac in charge of a fire department.
Under the guise of combating bullying, GLSEN promotes homosexual indoctrination in the public schools – starting with grade school.
While Jennings believes that children must be conditioned to accept homosexuality and “trans-genderism” as perfectly normal and natural, he insists that “ex-gay messages have no place in our nation’s public schools. A line has been drawn. There is no ‘other side’ when you’re talking about lesbian, gay and bi-sexual students.” In other words, don’t ask questions, don’t allow opposing points of view – hear and obey.
Now comes the revelation that when he taught at a private school in Massachusetts, Jennings advised a 15-year old boy to continue having sex with a man he met in a public restroom. FOX News has uncovered an audiotape in which Jennings confided he told the boy, “I hope you used a condom.”
After first denying he knew the boy’s age, Jennings now says: “Twenty-one years later, I can see how I should have handled the situation differently. (Talk about an understatement!) I should have asked for more information and consulted legal or medical authorities.” How about the police? By the way, in Massachusetts, teachers are required to report suspected cases of the sexual abuse of minors.
Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican, is calling on Obama to fire Jennings. And I agree.
The White House is silent. Apparently, the president fails to perceive the irony of making a man who winks at statutory rape the head of his Safe and Drug-Free Schools program. This is almost as irresponsible as making Roman Polanski the head of this agency.
Does Former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm Speak for His Party on Rationing Medical Services?
Seniors are afraid that if Obama’s nationalized health care becomes a reality, it will quickly be followed by the rationing of medical services for the elderly and terminally ill. Their fear is well-founded.
While the president and his supporters are busy trying to refute these charges (“Obama Lies and Granny Dies!”), former three-term Colorado Governor Richard Lamm – a Democrat, as if you had to ask – is busy lighting fuses.
Of course America needs rationing of medical services, Lamm declares in his September 24 commentary on The Huffington Post (“Better Health Care Through Rationing”), the on-line bible of the Obama left.
“No modern society can afford to give to each of its citizens all the health care that is ‘beneficial,’” Lamm declares. Being a statist, he doesn’t understand that in a free country, “society” isn’t responsible for giving or withholding health care. Citizens buy it – usually through insurance premiums — with their own resources. If they can’t afford it, there’s private charity and welfare.
But Lamm is talking about some bureaucrat who supposedly represents “society” telling patients that they can’t have all the health care that’s “beneficial.”
The governor caused a furor in the 1980s, by telling the elderly that they had a duty to die and get out of the way.
In a 1984 speech (how’s that for fitting symbolism?) to the Colorado Health Lawyers Association, Lamm compared the elderly who choose to die to “leaves which fall off a tree forming the humus in which other plants can grow.” And if some of those leaves won’t fall on their own, if you have to shake the tree to get them down, the governor’s okay with that too. He’s also a proponent of assisted suicide, which can easily slip into euthanasia.
Opponents of Obama-care should make Richard Lamm the poster boy for nationalized health care. He’s saying what the rest of his party is thinking, but has the political sense not to say so openly.
