It started with the Super Bowl and the government continues to spend a ton of money promoting the 2010 Census. In today’s World, the U.S. Government doesn’t have the waste the money to produce and run TV & radio ads that the news stations and Internet sites could promote for free.
The President could just add a “Census Promotion” to one of his televised speeches and save all the money wasted promoting the Census. I heard a help wanted radio ad for the census telling people to apply for a job at the census. It seems to me that all the people collecting unemployment could get that message in their next unemployment check telling them the Government has a job for them at the Census.
The final straw for me was when I received the one page letter in the mail that informs me that I will receive a 2010 Census in the Mail in about a week. Did they really need to waste all the envelopes, ink and paper to deliver a letter to tell me that they will be sending another letter in the mail? By the way, the letter was in six different languages, does that mean you don’t have to read to be counted for your “fair share of government funds” as the letter states – you bet it does!
