More Government Waste – Census Advertising.

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

It started with the Super Bowl and the government continues to spend a ton of money promoting the 2010 Census. In today’s World, the U.S. Government doesn’t have the waste the money to produce and run TV & radio ads that the news stations and Internet sites could promote for free.

The President could just add a “Census Promotion” to one of his televised speeches and save all the money wasted promoting the Census. I heard a help wanted radio ad for the census telling people to apply for a job at the census. It seems to me that all the people collecting unemployment could get that message in their next unemployment check telling them the Government has a job for them at the Census.

The final straw for me was when I received the one page letter in the mail that informs me that I will receive a 2010 Census in the Mail in about a week. Did they really need to waste all the envelopes, ink and paper to deliver a letter to tell me that they will be sending another letter in the mail? By the way, the letter was in six different languages, does that mean (more…)

Obama Doesn’t Even Fake Bipartisanship Well

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

By David Limbaugh – GOPUSA

How long will it take for every last American to realize President Barack Obama is not about bipartisanship, reconciliation (other than as a process to cram his health care bill through Congress) and uniting Americans? As his latest gyrations on health care demonstrate, he will not be deterred in his quest to saddle Americans with socialized medicine, even if it greatly increases the likelihood he won’t be re-elected.

Here we have Obama, frenetically busy with at least three of his hands, pushing different buttons and sending mixed signals. I guess being a self-perceived messiah means you don’t have to worry about being flagrantly inconsistent, even on the same day or in the context of one speech.

He’s invited Republicans to a bipartisan summit on health care, intending to create the illusion that he’s interested in conservative ideas on the subject.

With Absolute Power, Team Obama Grows Stupid

Friday, February 12th, 2010

By Michael Barone – GOPUSA

How could such smart people do so many stupid things? That question, or variations on it, is being asked in Washington and around the country about the Obama administration.

The same people who directed the campaign that defeated Hillary Clinton and routed John McCain, a campaign that raised far more money and attracted far more volunteers than any before it, have within a year come up with a legislative program that is crashing in ruins and that, to judge from recent polls, has left the Democratic Party weaker than I have seen it in almost 50 years of closely following politics.

The 2008 campaign was an impressive achievement. So, in a negative way, is the 2009 legislative program that has left the Democrats in such woeful shape in 2010.

Fact Check: How State of Union Compares With Reality

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

By Associated Press

WASHINGTON — President Obama, who once considered government spending freezes a hatchet job, told Americans on Wednesday it’s now part of his solution to the exploding deficit. He didn’t explain what had changed.

His State of the Union speech skipped over a variety of complex realities in laying out a “common-sense” call to action.

A look at some of his claims and how they compare with the facts:

OBAMA: “Starting in 2011, we are prepared to freeze government spending for three years. Spending related to our national security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will not be affected. But all other discretionary government programs will. Like any cash-strapped family, we will work within a budget to invest in what we need and sacrifice what we don’t.”

THE FACTS: The anticipated savings from this proposal would amount to less than one percent of the deficit — and that’s if the president can persuade Congress to go along.

Obama is a convert to the cause of broad spending freezes. In the presidential campaign, he criticized Republican opponent John McCain for suggesting one. “The problem with a spending freeze is you’re using a hatchet where you need a scalpel,” he said a month before the election. Now, Obama wants domestic spending held steady in most areas where the government can control year to year costs. The proposal is similar to McCain’s.

Obama Seen as Anti-Business by 77% of U.S. Investors

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Jan. 22 (Bloomberg) — U.S. investors overwhelmingly see President Barack Obama as anti-business and question his ability to manage a financial crisis, according to a Bloomberg survey.

The global quarterly poll of investors and analysts who are Bloomberg subscribers finds that 77 percent of U.S. respondents believe Obama is too anti-business and four-out-of-five are only somewhat confident or not confident of his ability to handle a financial emergency.

The poll also finds a decline in Obama’s overall favorability rating one year after taking office. He is viewed favorably by 27 percent of U.S. investors. In an October poll, 32 percent in the U.S. held a positive impression.

Brown Scores Upset Victory Over Coakley in Massachusetts Senate Race

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Washington was waking up Wednesday to a new Senate make-up, one featuring Republican Massachusetts Senator-elect Scott Brown, who defeated Democrat Martha Coakley in a victory few thought possible just a month ago.

The race for the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by the late Ted Kennedy is a win that could grind President Obama’s agenda to a halt and portend unexpected losses for Democrats in the November midterms.

In his victory speech, Brown declared that he had “defied the odds and the pundits,” and said he would try to be a “worthy successor” to Kennedy.

“Tonight, the independent voice of Massachusetts has spoken,” Brown said. “This Senate seat belongs to no one person, no one political party. … This is the people’s seat.”

Majority Would Vote Against Obama

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

By Reid Wilson – National Journal.com

A year into his tenure, a majority of Americans would already vote against Pres. Obama if the ’12 elections were held today, according to a new survey.

The Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor poll shows 50% say they would probably or definitely vote for someone else. Fully 37% say they would definitely cast a ballot against Obama. Meanwhile, just 39% would vote to re-elect the pres. to a 2nd term, and only 23% say they definitely would do so.

Obama’s first year in office has been marked by an unemployment rate that surged to 10%, an increased commitment of troops to Afghanistan and a health care battle that has taken a serious political toll on the WH.

Poll: Obama Health Care Marks Hit New Low

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

by Stephanie Condon – CBSNEWS.com

President Obama’s approval rating on handling health care is at an all-time low, according to a new CBS News poll, something that is helping to drag down his overall approval rating.

Just 36 percent of Americans approve of Mr. Obama’s handling of health care, according to the poll, conducted from Jan. 6 – 10. Fifty-four percent disapprove. In December of last year, 42 percent of Americans approved of the president’s handling of health care, and 47 percent approved in October.

Are Rainmakers Crashing the Tea Party?

Monday, January 11th, 2010

By Suzy Khimm – Newsweek.com

The first National Tea Party Convention seems to have scored a coup by securing Sarah Palin as the keynote speaker for next month’s confab, which organizers are billing as an opportunity to gather groups from across the country to bring their movement “to the next level.” But the convention’s lineup and eye-popping registration fee have raised questions about whether the Tea Party fringe will succeed in maintaining its popular momentum as the right-wing establishment begins to come on board.

Appearing alongside Palin at the event will be Republican Reps. Michele Bachmann and Marsha Blackburn, members of the GOP’s far-right flank who rallied the Tea Partiers on Capitol Hill last month. They’ll be joined by established stalwarts from the religious right, including former Alabama Supreme Court chief justice Roy Moore—infamous for refusing to remove a display of the Ten Commandments from his courtroom—and far-right preacher Rick Scarborough, a follower of Jerry Falwell’s.

The Consequences of Obama: Terrorism is Back

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

By Dick Morris

Rev. Jeremiah Wright said that the “chickens came home to roost” on 9-11. He was wrong. But they have now, indeed, come home to roost as we witness the results of the unilateral disarmament President Obama has practiced in the war on terror. Beset once more by terrorism on our soil and in our airspace, we find ourselves suddenly overmatched by those who the Bush Administration kept away from our shores for seven years.

This new onset of terrorism is not the product of any change in the international environment or some new “systemic” flaw in our intelligence operations. It is due to the policy of President Obama in letting down our guard and inhibiting those charged with our protection.

Under Obama, the hunters have become the hunted as America inverted her priorities. Those who have been working to keep us safe have, themselves, come under scrutiny for profiling, harsh interrogation techniques, and a failure to give terrorists constitutional rights they don’t have.
