Christmas is here, in all its beauty and warmth. It saddens me to think that if Barack Obama got his way, Jesus would not be recognized as the reason for the season.

Earlier this month, White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers disclosed that the First Family was planning a “non-traditional Christmas,” this year that would include choosing not to display the traditional manger scene.

Thankfully, because of the outcry from the public the plan was abandoned.

At the National Tree Lighting Ceremony at the White House, Obama proclaimed that Christmas is no longer a religious holiday. Rather, it’s “a tradition that has come to represent more than one holiday or religion.”

The question we must ask ourselves is why are only Christians being asked to sacrifice our holiday on the altar of sensitivity and tolerance? Do Jews feel guilty about celebrating Hanukah? Do the Saudis proclaim that Ramadan is “a tradition that has come to represent more than any one holiday or religion”? Why isn’t Obama asking other religions to give up celebrating their holy days?

The answer is that the message of Christianity, the message of salvation and hope through Jesus Christ, is systematically being silenced in the very nation that was born out of the desire to worship freely, without fear of consequence or reprisal.

The message of political correctness is to offend no one and to tolerate every belief and every religion. Jesus Christ is STILL the only Way and the Truth is still that no man will come to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). We are called to love each and every person but NOT to accept just any belief as the truth without boldly proclaiming the truth about Jesus.

Friends, there is no greater calling this Christmas season than to let the light of the love of Jesus Christ shine so our Father will be glorified and so that others can find the hope that we have. Jesus IS Christmas and He is the only peace that will endure.

With the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit about to begin, a few observations are in order:

• Fewer and fewer people believe in the myth of manmade global warming. The latest Harris Poll – taken before the Climate-gate revelations – shows that now fewer than 51% of Americans believe in what its proponents insist is scientific fact – down from 75% in 2001 and 71% in 2007. Not that public opinion matters to elites. (Despite the continuing drop in support for Obama-care, Congress seems determined to force it on us.)

• British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, a faithful communicant of the Church of Global Warming, insists the theory is “settled science” (not to the 31,000 scientists who signed a statement casting doubt on the theory) and comparing skeptics to those who think the earth is flat. Increasingly, proponents of this junk science resort to name-calling and disparaging remarks which, let’s face it, are easier than trying to prove the improvable.

• For cultists obsessing about the release of greenhouse gasses and their supposed devastation to the environment, it’s do as I say not as I do. Copenhagen airport is expecting 140 private jets for officials attending the Summit and their aides. (Heaven forbid they should take a commercial flight.) Note: None of the private jets runs on ethanol. As my friend and colleague Gary Bauer points out, “Including travel, the 11-day conference will use 41 tons of carbon dioxide – greater than the daily amount produced by 30 countries.”

• The Copenhagen Summit is seen as a successor to the Kyoto Accords, negotiated in 1997, which the United States never ratified. It’s believed that Copenhagen will produce something similar to the Waxman-Markey bill, which passed the House in June and is now pending in the Senate. If it becomes law, this legislation would set stringent limits on energy produced from fossil fuels (which supply America with 85% of its energy needs). If Waxman-Markey goes into effect, it’s estimated it will cost the typical family an average of $829 a year between 2012 and 2035, reduce GDP by $394 billion a year over the same period, and lead to a net loss of a million jobs a year. If the global-warming mob, lead by Barack Obama, has its way, there will be an economic meltdown long before the polar ice caps melt.

It’s none too soon to begin urging Senators to reject whatever comes out of the Copenhagen Summit. For the sake of our economy, our incomes and our national sovereignty, the environmental hysterics and elitists must not have their way.

As time goes by, more and more doubt is cast on the theory of man-made global warming, which the left treats as incontrovertible fact. To date, more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition declaring that there is no conclusive evidence that the earth is getting warmer due to CO2 emissions from automobiles and industry.

Recently, a hacker exposed a scheme by pro-global warming researchers to hide studies that contradict the theory. The Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom is one of the most influential climate-change crusaders. Its research regularly shows up in reports of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Over 1,000 e-mails made public by the hacker showed a pattern of deceit and misrepresentation. Data that casts doubt on man-made global warming was spiked. Among other instances of scientific fraud, the Climate Research Unit’s director, Phil Jones, told Michael Mann of Pennsylvania State University that he would work to keep dissenting studies out of IPCC Reports.

The e-mails provide massive evidence that global-warming cultists will stop at nothing to prevent opposing views from being heard. This becomes particularly relevant as we move toward the next stage in the campaign to institute a planetary regime to fight this unproven menace.

In less than a week (Dec. 7-18), the Copenhagen global-warming summit will take place. Like other socialist heads of state attending this surrender-your-sovereignty conference, President Obama will go intending to sign whatever economy-annihilating treaty comes out of the confab.

Copenhagen is intended to extend and expand the Kyoto Protocol, scheduled to expire in 2012. Though then-Vice President Al Gore endorsed the Protocol, negotiated in 1997, President Clinton knew there was so much opposition to the scheme to force a reduction in CO2 emissions, that he didn’t even bother submitting it to the Senate for ratification.

At the time, it was conservatively estimated that U.S. compliance would have cost taxpayers and consumers between $100 billion and $397 billion a year.

A U.S. domestic global warming bill, which narrowly passed the House in June, seeks to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by 17% (from the 2005 baseline) by 2020. The Heritage Foundation estimated that this would result in an annual loss to the economy of $393 billion – or a total cost to a family of four of $3,000 annually, and an annual net loss of 1 million jobs.

It’s reasonable to assume that Copenhagen will be worse.

Obama will negotiate away our nation’s industrial future to please internationalists and the global-warming Chicken Littles. The Copenhagen accord likely will include a massive wealth transfer from developed to developing nations, to help them reduce their carbon emissions. Lord Christopher Monckton, science advisor to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, warns that global warming will be used as the pretext for global government.

“Your president will sign it (whatever treaty comes out of Copenhagen). Most Third World countries will sign it, because they think they’re going to get money out of it. Most of the left-wing regimes from the European Union will rubber-stamp it,” Monckton predicts.

But we can stop it! Like any other treaty, it will have to be submitted to the Senate for ratification, where it needs a two-thirds vote (67 votes). If we begin now urging Senators to reject what’s almost certain to come out of Copenhagen, we can prevent yet another massive trauma to our economy, which is already reeling from Obama’s runaway spending.

Obama-Care passed another perilous milestone Saturday evening when — on a strictly partisan vote (without one Republican supporting the measure) — the Senate voted to bring H.R. 3590, the federal takeover of U.S. health care, to the floor for amendment and debate.

Sometime after Thanksgiving, the Senate will take up nationalized health care in earnest. Crucial to understanding the most dangerous piece of legislation in our lifetime is the following:

• In its present form, the bill is a 1,990-page monstrosity. It’s not because the issue is that complex. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the bill much longer than “War and Peace” for a reason – to discourage voters from reading it. Congressmen and Senators haven’t read it either, and won’t before a final vote. Pelosi and company defeated a bill to require House members to actually read the bill before they voted on it.
• It will cost as much as $2.5 trillion over the next decade, and that’s on top of the record-breaking deficits President Obama has already rolled up in his first 10 months in office. The piper will be paid with higher taxes, job-annihilating inflation or a combination thereof.
• If Obama-Care becomes law, it will increase the cost of medical insurance for the 88% of Americans who already have it. Once the system is implemented, those who refuse to buy insurance will be fined and could even go to jail.
• It will result in a complete government takeover of the health insurance. Under the direction of a misnamed “Health Choices Commissioner” (there will be no choice), private insurers will be told what to charge, what coverage to offer, what must be covered and so on. To cite one example, insurers will be forced to cover prior conditions (including lung cancer from decades of smoking and life-style diseases the AIDS). The goal is to bankrupt private insurers — insuring that the “public option” is the only option.
• Nothing in the legislation (including the Stupak amendment in the House version), will prevent the plan from being used to fund abortion, assisted-suicide and the rationing of medical services. One proposal would eliminate routine mammograms for women under-50 (including those in high-risk categories).

The so-called Senate moderates (Blanche Lincoln, Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu and Joe Lieberman), who all voted to bring the bill to the floor, are claiming it was merely a procedural vote. That’s nonsense, to put it mildly.

As my friend Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) explains: “Let’s be clear: Any Senator who votes to proceed to this bill is voting for a government takeover of health care. Senators who hide behind procedure and claim they just want to allow for debate are not being honest, they are trying to deceive their voters while helping to pass this terrible bill that will make health care more expensive.” Exactly.

The fight is far from over. We can still kill federalized health care by upholding an all-but-certain Republican filibuster. Harry Reid needs 60 votes to invoke cloture (end a filibuster). We have 40 solid votes. All we need to do is peel off one Democrat or Independent, and the bill is doomed in this session.

Recall the warning of President Ronald Reagan, spoken almost a half-century ago: “One of the traditional ways of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine.” This is a war we must not lose.

Yesterday, the Senate voted (70 to 29) to end a filibuster led by Sen. Jeff Sessions on the nomination of Judge David Hamilton to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

After 30-hours of debate, a final vote is expected tomorrow. His nomination must be defeated. Hamilton would be an unmitigated disaster on the Circuit Court.

David Hamilton is a judicial activist par excellence. By nominating him, President Obama is fulfilling his campaign promise to pick judges on the basis of “empathy” for interest groups favored by the left, rather than experience, objectivity or commitment to the Constitution and rule of law.

As a district court judge, Hamilton ruled:

• That prayers invoking the name of Jesus before sessions of the Indiana state legislature are “sectarian,” therefore unconstitutional, but prayers offered to “Allah” in the same setting are non-sectarian, hence constitutional. Hamilton’s “reasoning” is hard to follow, but the double standard seems to be because there are many more Christians than Muslims in the state – so prayers in Jesus name are more likely to threaten “church/state separation.” (So Christianity is penalized because of its popularity.) In any case, Hamilton’s absolutely bizarre decision was reversed by the 7th Circuit Appeals Court – the very court Obama now wants to put him on.
• Against the petition of a rabbi to include a menorah in a holiday display in the Indianapolis Municipal Building also reversed by the 7th Circuit.
• Against a law putting modest restraints on abortion in Indiana (requiring informed consent and a waiting period). In his rulings, Hamilton has been consistently — some would say fanatically — pro-abortion. As a district court judge, he spent seven years trying to overturn that state’s informed-consent law, in ruling after ruling – in a determined attempt to frustrate the will of the people and the state legislature.
• Against a common-sense sex offender law, thereby making it easier for pedophiles to prey on our children.

If that weren’t enough, prior to being appointed to the U.S. District Court by President Clinton, Hamilton was a fundraiser for ACORN (the president’s favorite “community organizers”) and head of the Indiana chapter of the ACLU. As a judge of the 7th Circuit Appeals Court, Hamilton would be guided not by the Constitution but the ACLU’s guidebook.

Please, help us to defeat David Hamilton’s nomination. Don’t let the Democrats turn the Senate into a rubber stamp for Obama’s anti-Constitution, anti-Christian, activist nominees.

I am pro-life by conviction. Anyone who knows me very well or has followed my ministry will verify that fact. In 2006, I helped to register and educate concerned Christians on a stem-cell initiative in Missouri and a ballot question banning most abortions in South Dakota.

Still, I must say, I’m dismayed by the success of the right-to-life movement in passing the Stupak Amendment, which gave pro-life Democrats cover to vote for nationalized health care, which in turn passed the House of Representatives by a 3-vote margin on Saturday evening.

But isn’t that what the right-to-life movement is supposed to do: Work to pass bans on abortion funding? Of course it is. But when such a ban facilitates the passage of legislation that puts all life at risk, it is self-defeating, to say the least.

The Stupak Amendment helped Obama-care to pass the House. But even if the ban remains in the final version of the bill (which still has to go through the Senate and then be reconciled in the House), Obama and his supporters are determined to remove any restrictions on abortion funding — if not now, certainly in the future.

The abortion movement is a crucial component of Obama’s coalition. Thus, year after year, the administration will work to remove the ban. And, year after year, pro-lifers will be forced to fight the same battle all over again – when it could be over now, by defeating nationalized health care.

Even without the prohibition on abortion funding, the 2,000-page health “reform” measure will necessitate rationing. If it’s passed, rationing will be inevitable.

The plan calls for insuring millions who (for whatever reason) are currently uninsured. Even with the enormous tax increases on individuals and businesses envisioned by the legislation, it’s impossible to raise enough revenue to pay the initial trillion-dollar price tag.

Whether it’s “death panels” or penalizing physicians who provide care above a mandated level to Medicare recipients, Washington will find a way to ration medical care to the most vulnerable. Is the life of an unborn child more worthy of protection than handicapped children, terminal patients or the elderly ill?

With God’s help, Obama care can still be stopped.

Of the Democratic Congressmen who opposed the bill, the overwhelming majority (31 of 39) represents districts John McCain carried last year. With GOP victories in New Jersey and Virginia earlier this month and unemployment t now at 10.2%, a lot of vulnerable Democrats (and more are moving into that category every day) are looking over their shoulders. We need to encourage that apprehension. It’s important to note that one solitary Republican, out of 178 in the House of Representatives, voted for the monstrous measure.

The right-to-life movement needs to re-think its strategy. By continuing to push a ban on abortion funding – instead of working to defeat Obama-care with or without such a prohibition –it could end up losing by winning.

Rally for Religious Freedom – Nov. 16, 2009
The Coalition for Faith And Freedom — an ad hoc, inter-denominational group of concerned clergy — will be holding a Press Conference and Rally for Religious Freedom and Pray-In on Monday, Nov. 16th at 1:00 PM in Washington DC, in front of the Department of Justice, to demonstrate our opposition to the new Federal Hate Crimes Legislation.

I will be joining other ministers in hosting a press conference, followed by several brief sermons from the Bible on the subject of homosexuality. The group will release a letter which will be presented earlier that day to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder expressing our concerns and demanding that the religious liberty of all American’s be respected.

Hours after the polls closed in Virginia and New Jersey, the Democrats and their media allies began to spin the results furiously, in an effort at damage control. For the left, there was a lot of damage to be controlled as unapologetically social conservatives were swept into office.  Looks like the big tent theory, so often advanced by the left as they advise the right, is collapsing.  Tuesday was big for principled conservatives and should encourage us all!

• Virginia has had a Democratic governor for 8 years and now has two Democratic Senators. In 2008, President Obama carried the state easily. On Tuesday, Republican Bob McDonnell (a graduate of Pat Robertson’s Regent University and a staunch right-to-lifer and social conservative) was swept into office with 59% of the vote. Having Obama campaign with him did nothing for Democrat Creigh Deeds, who lost to McDonnell by 17 points. For the first time in memory, Republicans won all three of the top constitutional offices – all with pro-lifers.

• In New Jersey, among the most liberal of states, a Republican was elected governor by the largest margin in 25 years. Chris Christie, who was chided for not running a more issue-oriented campaign, found his voice in the weeks before the election, running on tax and spending cuts. Christie, who’s also solidly pro-life, defeated ultra-liberal incumbent Jon Corzine, who spent millions of his vast fortune to secure reelection. The president made repeated trips to the Garden State to save a close political ally. All for naught.

• Liberal Maine was considered the acid test for marriage. For the first time, voters had a chance to repeal a same-sex marriage law passed by a state legislature. Marriage proponents were massively outspent. Every major political figure in the state, and most of the media, opposed repeal. Nevertheless, on Tuesday, Maine became the 31^st state to reject gay marriage by the ballot. The score for marriage is now 31-0.

• New York’s 23^rd Congressional District is being touted as a ray of hope for the left. Democrat Bill Owens defeated Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman – after leftist Republican Dee Dee Scozzafava (an ACORN ally) dropped out three days before the election and threw her support to the Democrat. Still, two months ago, Hoffmann was a virtual unknown whose campaign was grossly under-funded at the outset. He’ll be back next year for a one-on-one rematch with Owens with even more Conservatives behind him – as well as the national Republican Party.

• It all adds up to a growing sense of unease with the direction in which this administration and Congress are taking us – mega-deficits, unemployment inching toward 10%, government takeover of the auto and banking industries and Obama’s attempt to nationalize health care.

Blue-dog Democrats must be exceedingly nervous over Republican victories, especially in an overwhelmingly Democratic state like New Jersey. Obama, Reid and Pelosi will find it even harder to push so-called health-care reform through Congress, especially with the next Congressional election now less than a year away.

Will the president have the audacity to continue to seek repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, when voters in liberal Maine just repealed a gay marriage law?

The outcome of Tuesday’s election underscores the importance of Vision America Action’s efforts to educate the American people on taxes and inflation, health care, the free market, czars, ACORN and the assault on Judeo-Christian values.

But this is just the beginning.  There’s far more to be done before the elections of 2010 and 2012.  We need to awaken the American people to the dangers of Obama-ism and the need to return to tried-and-true principles. You can help us to do that by:

 My friends, we are in for the fight of our lives – and our lives may literally depend on the outcome. Late last week, with the President’s blessing, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled the latest legislative version of Mr. Obama’s plan to destroy U.S. health care – the ironically misnamed Affordable Health Care for America Act (HR 3962). In response to criticism that the last bill was too long (weighing in at just over 1,000 pages), Pelosi responded with a bill that totals 1,990 pages –considerably longer than “War and Peace.”

Here are the high/low points:

• It will cost an estimated $1.055 trillion over the next decade. In an era of runaway spending and mega-deficits, the President and his party are determined to increase the burden on our children and grandchildren. This burden will take the form of new taxes or inflation, or both. Americans for Tax Reform has identified 13 new taxes found in the bill.

• It will bankrupt private insurers, by forcing them to cover all applicants, regardless of pre-existing conditions. Insurers will be forced to write policies for smokers with lung cancer and homosexuals with AIDS. Not only does this penalize individuals who’ve made healthy and often time moral choices, it will eventually put private insurance companies out of business – which is what the president wants.

• It will result in virtually unlimited government coverage of abortion. Various congressional committees rejected more than 30 amendments that would have barred abortion coverage. The President’s friends in the pro-death movement (Planned Parenthood, etc.) pushed for it, and they got it. Even the U.S. Catholic Bishops, who were inclined to support the concept of universal coverage at the outset, are now lobbying against it.

• There is nothing in the bill that would prevent illegal immigrants (an increasingly important part of the Democrats’ coalition) from gaining access to its mandated health-care coverage.

• It will result in health care rationing; there is no alternative. Even without rationing, by expanding coverage, health-care costs will soar. Only rationing will keep them from rising into the stratosphere. There will be nothing as blatant as “death panels” – though they will exist in substance if not in name. The bill will simply penalize doctors who prescribe care above a certain level for Medicare patients.

The President and Pelosi are working feverishly to pass this catastrophe before reality catches up with enough people in Washington to stop it permanently.  A plurality of Americans are now saying no health care “reform” is better than what’s on the table.

The more complicated, convoluted and onerous Obama-care becomes (and the Pelosi bill is all of these), the easier it is to defeat. And we’re asking you to help us do just that.

First there was Interim White House Communications Director Anita Dunn, who, in a June commencement speech, called communist mass-murderer Mao Tes-Tung one of her “favorite political philosophers” and cited the blood-drenched tyrant as an example of successful decision-making.

Now, another tape has surfaced of an Obama official quoting Mao favorably, while ridiculing the free market.

Ron Bloom (formerly Obama’s Car Czar, now his Manufacturing Czar) gave a speech in February 2008 — while he was an assistant to the president of the United Steel Workers Union — in which he disclosed:

“We know that the free market is nonsense. We know the whole point is to game the system, to beat the market or at least find someone who will pay you a lot of money because they’re convinced that there is a free lunch. We know this is largely about power, that it’s an adults-only, no-limit game. We kind of agree with Mao that political ‘power comes largely from the barrel of a gun.’” (Emphasis added.)

Despite a degree from the Harvard Business School, Bloom apparently believes that the free market is a con game — that it’s not about investors and innovators, entrepreneurs and workers getting together to offer useful goods and services at competitive prices, but a carnival side-show attraction whose objective is to fleece the rubes.

It seems the president believes this too. Every one of his policies seeks to undermine the market, take power away from businesses, transfer income from consumers (via taxation and inflation) and put it all in the hands of unelected and unvetted government bureaucrats – like Manufacturing Czar Ron Bloom.

No wonder Mr. Obama has chosen to by-pass the Senate and its constitutional mandate to advise and consent, which would have required open hearings, before such ideologues were given sweeping powers, as have the more than three dozens Czars appointed during his first year in office. This president has built a shadow government, and the more we learn, the more we see that his agenda isn’t “hope and change” but “bait and switch.”

The most chilling aspect of Bloom’s speech was when he agreed with a man responsible or the deaths of more than 70 million that “political power comes from the barrel of a gun.” Mao wasn’t speaking metaphorically. His axiom was written in blood, from the Chinese Civil War to the Great Leap Forward to the Cultural Revolution.

Is that what Bloom and his boss want to see in the United States – power coming not from the marketplace or the ballot box, but through the raw power of coercion? It certainly seems that way. The administration’s move to crush dissent by trying to muzzle talk radio and punish media outlets that report the news objectively is just one example of power from a gun-barrel.

Just this week, the “Pay Czar” cut the wages of dozens of CEOs.  We might agree that some of these men and women were greedy and being paid too much, but show me where the Constitution of the United States grants any public official the power to decide who gets paid what in the private sector?

Who’s next?  Me? You?

Rest assured it will not be Oprah or any of the president’s cozy friends in the entertainment industry or the mainstream media, who refuse to investigate such actions and continue to fawn on him.

I fear — just as many of us tried to warn the voting public last year— that the change President Obama wants is to remake America in the image of a totalitarian state. But he can be stopped, if enough of us are willing to stand up and be counted.

Today, I am asking you to once again bombard every member of Congress with a call for investigation of all of the Czars, to determine what they really believe and what they are truly trying to do.

What sort of person cites a man who murdered millions in cold blood as an example of how to get things done? Answer: interim White House Communications Director Anita Dunn.

On his FOX News show, Glenn Beck played a video of a June speech in which Dunn cited Mao Tse Tung and Mother Teresa on the need to make choices. She described the monster and the symbol of compassion as “two of my favorite political philosophers.” That’s quite a pairing. Given Mother Teresa’s avowed Christianity, had she lived in China under Mao, she too would have been murdered by his odious regime.

The communist tyrant who ran China for almost three decades certainly knew how to get some things done. Mao knew how to murder, imprison, starve and torture the Chinese people. His policies are responsible for the deaths of an estimated 70 million (which included some of the greatest Christian missionaries, teachers and pastors of the past 100 years. One of those martyrs was Watchman Nee — whose writings, smuggled out of China, greatly shaped my own understanding of Christianity.

By backing North Korea in the 1950s and the North Vietnam in the ‘60s and ‘70s, Mao was also responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of American servicemen.

In the face of mounting criticism, Dunn issued a statement complaining, “The use of the phrase ‘favorite political philosophers’ was intended as irony.” Really? I’ve listened to the tape carefully, several times, and did not detect a note of irony in Dunn’s voice.

And why did Dunn reach for Mao as an example of decision-making? Why not cite Truman, Reagan or Margaret Thatcher – who advanced the cause of freedom and free enterprise, not tyranny and collectivism — as examples of how to make tough choices?

Dunn is only the latest example of Obama’s radicalism. From Bill Ayers (former Maoist terrorist) to recently resigned Green Jobs Czar Van Jones, from palling around with Castro and Hugo Chavez to trying to reinstate Honduras’s Marxist president – Obama naturally aligns himself with communists.

Dunn is in charge of mapping out White House strategy for attacking FOX News. How’s that for irony? With all of the media behaving like obedient lapdogs of the Democratic Party, it drives the president crazy that’s there’s a media outlet that’s not in his hip pocket.

It seems that everyday a new revelation surfaces of our president’s radical associations. Those who were paying attention during last year’s campaign are not surprised. Thankfully, more and more Americans who voted for “Hope and Change,” are awakening to see what Barrack Obama really meant when he mouthed those words. This is not the change Americans want.
